1. There need to be a balance between mourning one's sins and rejoicing, so that one won't fall into despair but won't be careless as well.
2. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Russian Christians couldn't imagine that soon they will be persecuted by the Soviet regime.
3. If you constantly remind yourself that God has redeemed you and forgiven your sins, you will be more merciful to others.
4. There is little trust to those who revile others, especially behind their backs.
5. It's never simple to be meek, even to your nearest and dearest people who mean no harm to you.

A saint like St. John Chrysostom was a Universal herald. His words still bring the Good Tidings to the whole world.

Gos is knowable in His love and unknowable in His essence.

For monastics, to acquire inner recollection means to cultivate a quiet spirit.

1. Becoming an abbot of a holy house is a great undertaking.
2. Staying calm and tranquil can be challenging in the world full of tribulation.
3. The word epistle made me think of an epitaph, but even though they share a prefix their origin is different.

1. The themes in "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" such as angels bringing good tidings remind me of Christmas carols we used to sing when I was a child.
2. In fairytales and folklore being immortal is often seen as something negative, referring not to life eternal, but being unable to rest one's soul and staying in this fallen world forever.
3. Inner recollection helps many people to be able to pray fervently.

1. The Old Testament was more of a threat to the sinners; the New Testament is good tidings to the righteous.
2. Every Christian is called to be a herald, preaching the Gospel with his whole life.
3. One cannot subdue his will to God fully and thus be set free from voluntary transgressions, let alone involuntary ones.
4. One should think long and hard before giving alms to strangers, because, sadly, not everybody asking for it actually needs it.
5. Tranquillity is a most desired state for a Christian, for the peace with oneself and other people leads us to the peace with God.
