    5.      Nothing should HINDER US FROM FOLLOWING CHRIST.

    1.      The prayer “HOLY GOD, HOLY MIGHTY, HOLY IMMORTAL, HAVE MERCY ON US” is a very mysterious prayer. This prayer is thought

    3.      Too many things – talents, knowledge, love, etc. – that we have and practice in our life, can be described with the words of the Holy Liturgy: THINE OWN OF THINE OWN WE OFFER UNTO THEE, as everything we have is given us by God, and we just use it and multiply here on
    earth.

    1.      Let us quietly GIVE THANKS to God for the benefits we have without SPREADING its FAME.

    15/9

Sacred vessels are usually made of an expensive metal.
Those who serve the Church (clergy, singers, etc) have always lived on ecclesiastical tithes.
The fulfilment of the commandments of the Gospel is beneficial as they guide us to live according to God's will, which is entirely good.

    22/9

There are many practical implications of the Gospel to be fulfilled.
The rule of the monastery is a crucial thing when entering to live in one.
The fundamental social implication of Christianity is almsgiving.

    29/9

When tired, I often dream of a place of retreat somewhere in Russian forests.
For a monastery to be located far from cities, in the wilderness, is a necessary condition of preserving the spirit of prayer.
Saint Sergius founded a hermitage dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

    6/10

As Church is the House of the Comforter, we shall come here, and all our troubles and doubts bring to Him.
Bishops are successors to the Apostles. So we take part in the mysteries of the Church performed by them and by priests who are their spiritual descendants.

    20/10

Even nowadays we still have spiritual descendants of Sergius of Radonezh - these are the elders of modern Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
Almsgiving, care for the sick and poor, hospitality - are the virtues we laity can fulfil.

    27/10

There is a lot of social obligations of monasticism that disturb monks from being detached from the world. Absorbed in worldly concerns, they often don't have enough time for prayer.

    3/11

We Orthodox know that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father. Catholics who preach Filioquism say that the Holy Spirit proceeds also from the Son.

    10/11

I like using service books in Church-Slavonic during the services instead of printed texts in Russian. Of course, it is often hard to read some words properly, but I believe that practice will help.

We who often go to Church Services must learn the meanings of the symbolic gestures priests use, whereby the inner belief of a Christian is expressed.

    17/11

It is very good when the parish clergy and the laity are interconnected through communication and common activities.

We are always in the presence of God, and Jesus Prayer helps us to remember that.

    24/11

Nowadays prosperity lets people not to rely on God because they have money. That reminds me of Ebenezer Scrooge, a Christmas Carol character, whose bride refused to become his wife, saying that he worshipped another god - money.

The sign of the Cross invisibly saves us everytime we make it.

    1/12

Talking about the Sabbath which is for a person and not a person for the Sabbath, Christ brings up the example of King David who shared and ate loaves of oblation in the Church when needed.
Almost all Gospel extracts with Pharisees reminds us that the externals of worship without inner filling means nothing in the eyes of God.

    8/12

Married clergy are often called "white clergy".

1 AS OUR GOD IS INDIVISIBLE, we should try to resemble Him, and, firstly, fight hypocrisy, when we, for example, behave in one way with a person and then insult him/her.

2 Recently the icon of THE HOLY TRINITY by Andrei Rublev was returned to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, despite the words of the workers of the Tretiakov Gallery that the icon can not be transported anywhere, because it is too ancient and therefore fragile.

3 RIGHTEOUS JOHN, WONDERWORKER OF KRONSTADT is one of the greatest Russian saints, whose power of prayer worked many miracles.

Differences between the Orthodox and the Catholic Churches:
    Papal Universal Jurisdiction
    Papal Infallibility
Papal Petrine exclusivism (i.e., that only the Pope is Peter’s successor)
    The Filioque
    The Immaculate Conception of Mary.
    Divine Simplicity
    Merit and Satisfaction soteriology
    Purgatory and Indulgences.

“But he who endures to the end will be saved.” (cf. Matt. 24:13, Mark 13:13)
