Love overcomes all obstacles; for it, everything difficult is easy, everything unpleasant is pleasant, and everything heavy is light.

Earthly love is thoroughly limited, just like everything human and earthly. Human love is easily stopped, can make things unnecessarily difficult and the seeming lightness of being that it can provide is often illusory. But of course, Metropolitan Gregory is not talking about this love at all. As far as I can see, he is talking about the limitless, all-encompassing Divine Love. And in that case, one would be hard-pressed to disagree. Divine Love comes from God and is just as infinite. His sacrifice is irrevocable proof of that. So I think that being a Christian comes down to accepting this love and letting it deliver our souls from evil.

Love emanating from loved ones is a very great force that moves us to good deeds and which is given to us by God himself. A person literally blossoms from the inside, becomes unstoppable and internally strong. It is love that helps to overcome difficulties and hardships, it gives an inner core. Especially important is selfless love, which comes not from others, but from ourselves. For example, not responding to an insult or an unpleasant comment is also a manifestation of love for one's neighbor. We need to strive for the love not only of towards our close ones, but also of towards our enemies, the weak and the sick. This is quite difficult and requires a share of humility, but at such moments it is worth remembering the example of Christ, who prayed with love for those who crucified Him, and who absolved the sins of repentant pagans and criminals.

Reading this statement of Metropolitan Gregory, the words of the Apostle Paul immediately come to mind: "Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). It is probably impossible to say about love better than the Apostle did. But the metropolitan's words encourage us, assuring us that no matter what obstacles we would have to overcome, nothing would be difficult with love.
