The place Iwant to show you is A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE from here. It is in the
NEIGHBOURING TOWN. We’ll have to COVER A DISTANCE OF about 15 kilometres on
foot. I would not recommend using local public transport because there is a
very SMALL NUMBER of buses going where we need to. And I would not say we have very
LOW PRICES for transport here. I mean, it is not so FAR-OFF place to spend your
money for traveling there. Of course, our LITTLE BROTHER should stay home. I’m
afraid the road will be too hard for this PAINFULLY THIN little boy. Well, I
hope, the others have A GREAT DEAL OF ENTHUSIASM and A GREAT DEAL OF ENERGY.

I used to live in a NICE LITTLE ROOM with my BIG BROTHER. He used to be PAINFULLY THIN PERSON. When he entered the university, he traveled A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE FROM HOME. It wasn't WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE, so we had to drive, which caused SOME LITTLE PROBLEMS. When he graduated from university and became a military man, he became a handsome, SLIM young MAN.

a major difference  - существенное различие
a minor difference - незначительно различие

a major change - значительно изменение
a minor change - небольшое изменение

a minor difficulty - небольшая трудность

a minor point - второстепенный пункт

Do you think there is any logic at work here?
The key distinction is consist in dimension and altitude, and also in figurative and literal meaning. We use TALL when we speak about vertical and narrow objects from its base to its top. And we use it with living things (tree, human, animal) and smth constructed by people (buildings, towers). HIGH is for abstract and literal meaning or in fixed expressions (high heels, high tide)

I live A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE from the city center. The last time I drove there, I had to COVER A DISTANCE OF about 30 kilometers. The biggest problem was the traffic because it was a MAJOR DIFFICULTY. It made the journey feel even longer than usual.

a major difference / a minor difference

a major change / a minor change

a major effect / a minor effect

a major difficulty / a minor difficulty

a major point / a minor point

a major issue / a minor issue

a major factor / a minor factor

Do you think there is any logic at work here? I think the key difference is the size and height, as well as the figurative and literal meaning. We use the term "TALL" when we talk about vertical and narrow objects from the base to the top. "TALL" also has an abstract and literal meaning or is used in stable expressions.

To my surprise, in my recent walk, I couldn't COVER A DISTANCE OF more than 6 kilometres, according to my step count app. Turns out there is a MAJOR DIFFERENCE between what we imagine we can do and how far our feet can actually carry us. Knowing my limitations, I wouldn't try to climb a HIGH MOUNTAIN mountain or even a TALL TREE.
