10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.

12 And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.

13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.

18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.

19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.

20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.

21 And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

Saint John Chrysostom writes:
For your master, are you looking for a wife so humble engaged in water-bearing, who has the opportunity to talk with you? Yes, he says; he did not send me to seek abundance of wealth, nor nobility of birth, but nobility of soul. Often many of those who carry water are quite virtuous, while others who live in magnificent houses are the worst and most unfit of all. Further, how do you know that she is a virtuous woman? On this basis, he says, which I have expressed. And what is this sign of virtue? The greatest and most undoubted. This is the greatest and most obvious sign of hospitality. The meaning of his words, although not expressed in the same words, is as follows: I am looking for a girl who is so hospitable that she does not refuse any service that she can provide.

"And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham", "And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder"
This is an amazing example, because as soon as the servant turned to God, He fulfilled the request. When I see such examples of wonders, I sometimes think that maybe it was just a coincidence, but this thought quickly fades away, because I believe and see how much power a sincere appeal to God has.

As Lopuhin writes, servant’s appeal to God shows deep humility and living faith, in which he tried to imitate his master. His very appeal to God is very characteristic testifying that, living in the house of Abraham, he received the correct knowledge of God.

Saint Caesarius of Arles writes that Abraham sent his slave to find his son's wife to such a remote country, because God the Father intended to send the prophetic word throughout the earth to find a bride for His Only Begotten Son - the Catholic Church. And just as a wife is brought to blessed Isaac through Abraham's servant, so the Catholic Church is called from all the remote lands to Christ, the true Bridegroom, through the prophetic word. The water at which the servant finds the bride, symbolizes the waters of Baptism. Thus, Rebekah met Abraham's servant at the spring, and the Church meets Christ in the sacrament of Baptism.

In this passage Abraham's tired servant ends up in Mesopotamia and sees a woman. He prays to God so this woman would be suitable to become Isaac's wife. And the Lord does so: Rebekah is a very kind, pious virgin .

So as Abraham had said, God helped the servant. He was so amazed, so he couldn't believe that such a miracle happened (verse 21): "And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not". The servant trusts his master and God, and his prayer and trust help him find the right woman.

I think the main idea of this passage is that we should be kind to strangers who ask for help. If we can do what they need, why not? This passage shows that if we give something precious with an open heart, we will receive ten times more. In addition, those in need can come to us as if we were Christ. Wouldn't we want to help our God if we needed help? Why can't we then help his children who are in need?

Eliezer's appeal to God is filled with a sense of deep humility and strong faith, in which he obviously sought to somehow imitate his master. This passage is a powerful illustration of God's role in shaping human relationships. It emphasises faith and the importance of the Abrahamic covenant.

"And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and show kindness unto my master Abraham."

Here you can see the sincerity with which the servant approaches Abraham's task. How often do we perform tasks with maximum effort and concentration when we have them in front of us? In this case, the servant's trust in God's mercy is also important. I think that's why Rebekah came so quickly and fulfilled the servant's request. His faith was unshakeable, so God fulfilled his request.
