This quote from Elder Thaddeus (Strabulovich) of Vitovnica gets at something miraculous about liturgical worship. When the chanting is beautiful, really beautiful, you’re being drawn into something eternal. The worries and distractions that normally fill your head just fall away, and for a moment you’re not thinking about what’s next on your to-do list. It reminds me of King David bringing the Ark to Jerusalem. He wasn’t thinking about royal dignity or what people would say. He danced before the Lord “with all his might” (2 Samuel 6:14). His wife Michal was embarrassed for him, but David didn’t care. He said, “I will celebrate before the Lord” (2 Samuel 6:21). That’s what happens when you’re truly in God’s presence. You stop worrying about how you look or what you’re losing and just respond in joy.
Elder Thaddeus is saying something similar. The kind of worship he’s talking about isn’t just pleasant; it’s transformative. It gives us a taste of what we’re actually made for. For a moment, heaven doesn’t feel distant, and we remember that this world—with all its noise and worries—isn’t our final home:
"...we ascend into eternity with the Lord, His angels, and the saints, where our true Fatherland and our Kingdom is."
Цитата You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
