The fundamental task in life is to save one's soul for eternity. Keep this as the most essential task, the main concern of your life. Woe to those whose indifference and neglect bring their souls to eternal ruin.

May the Lord bless you and help you. + Metropolitan Philaret of New York.

The soul is immortal, the body is not. Therefore, the main goal of life is to cleanse the soul from sin through repentance, prayer, sacraments, and virtues, so that it may enter eternal life with God (cf. Mt. 6:33: «Seek first the Kingdom of God»).
Do not let routine or temptations distract you. Everyday is a gift to you from God, not from the world. St. John Chrysostom said: «Time is the coin of the soul; do not spend it on vanity».
However, danger lurks in indifference. «Woe» is a biblical warning about the Judgment (Is. 5:20). Indifference (apathy toward sin) and neglect (ignoring spiritual life) are «soul-killers», leading to spiritual death. This is about gradual alienation from God.
Fortunately, God awaits not perfection, but striving. Your salvation depends on your choice.

I agree with the above quote. It contains the truth represented in the Gospel, when Christ Himself said: "...whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake shall find it." The goal of every Christian's life is to try to live this earthly life in such a way that after leaving this world they would be with God in eternal life. Of course, this is very difficult, because we are used to looking at the world in a certain way, let's say, in a human way, and God looks at the world and people differently. We sometimes worry about what awaits us tomorrow, we have hopes, fears, desires, needs and so on. And Christ said that we need not care about tomorrow. It is complicated for us to even look at life through the prism of the Gospel, at the same time we should try to live according to it.To think less about earthly things, you need to change yourself, your thinking, your mindset - and this is like breaking your mind in pieces and putting it back together in a new order. I think, it's almost impossible for a man, but for God everything is possible.
