The person who loves someone sincerely strives to do everything possible that is pleasant to him and avoids doing what is displeasing. He does not grieve or, even more so, offend or insult that person. Correspondingly, if we love God we will at all costs try to fulfill His holy will, to subject our will to the demands of the divine commandments, doing this naturally, not like slaves by force or reluctantly, complaining, displeased, but joyfully, like loving children.

The  person who loves someone sincerely strives to do everything possible that is pleasant to him and avoids doing what is displeasing. He does not grieve or, even more so, offend or insult that person. Correspondingly, if we love God we will at all costs try to fulfill His holly will, to subject our will to the demands of the divine  commandments, doing this this naturally, not like slaves by force or reluctantly, complaining, displeased, but joyfully, like loving children. This is the  archbishop's Averkey quote. I agree with it and I'll try to explain why.

God says that He is our Father many times: "But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what your right hand doeth : That thine alms may be in a secret: and thine  Father which seeth in a secret shall reward thee openly. (Mathew, 6: 3-4).  There are many of such examples. Even one of the Christ's parables is called parable of the prodigal son. It shows us the picture of relationship between the Lord and us (his children).

However, I have to mention that the quote of  Vladyka Averky illustrates the perfect relationship between Father and His children, but it is very difficult to achieve this level of relationship because it is very difficult for us not grieve our  parents according to the flesh. Hence, it is thousand times more difficult not to grieve God. We should achieve perfect level of relationship very slowly. We should behave as this prodigal son. To eat with pigs, to wear a bad old torn clothes, to go to the Father and to repent and God will of course forgive us.

I find the parallel given by Archbishop Averky absolutely accurate. As a child loves his parents and does everything to please them, so must Christians strive to act according to God’s will. We as the Lord’s children should obey Him not because we are afraid of the punishment in case of breaking the law but rather because we feel His universal love and appreciate it. Jesus Christ Himself said: “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me” (John 14:21).

It is also significant that Christians are supposed to follow God’s commandments with true joy. Indeed, if we imagine a perfect relationships in a family, if a child pleases his parents, for example, helps with cooking, he is blissfully happy because he sees in his mother’s eyes satisfaction, approval and mutual love. How much more effort should we make to please God and how much more jubilant should we feel if we follow Christ’s words!

I can't agree more with this quote. I think that Archbishop Averky (Taushev) has perfectly described the way we should follow God's commandments. We shouldn't perceive it as our duty and keep them reluctantly. It should be our voluntary choice, the act of our love towards our Lord. We should fear to upset Him.

I agree with Archbishop Averky. True love inspires us to act with care and joy for the one we love, whether a person or God. When we genuinely love someone, we find happiness in pleasing them and avoid causing them harm. In the same way, if we love God, we’ll desire to follow His will and commandments willingly, not out of obligation or fear, but with a joyful heart. This love transforms duty into delight, as we serve God naturally, like children who find joy in pleasing their beloved Father. Such love deepens our relationship with God, making obedience a joyful expression of devotion. However, no matter how not ashamed we are to be ourselves alone with the one we love, [?] we must open our soul to God, believing that he will accept us.

I think this quote is the best one I've ever written an essay about on this forum. It is truly filled with love and speaks to the most basic laws of faith.

In my opinion, if one strives to be a better person out of fear of hell, their efforts will never be justified. One can only truly want to improve and find the strength to do so if one's heart is filled with an unwavering love for God, trust and a desire to be with Him in Eternity. We must not forget that our actions should not be based on fear, but on a joyful love for God and, as I mentioned above, a desire to be with Him in the eternal kingdom. In our impartial love, faithfulness and joy we must become like children, as the Lord tells us in the Gospel.

I really like that we can call God "the Father of people", because he is indeed our Creator. And love between a mother (who is also our creator somehow) and her child is the strongest and most honest thing on the planet. Mother likes her child just because it's her child, that's enough for her. And in my opinion, a child should love his/her mother the same way, just because the mother gave him/her birth, gave an opportunity to live this beautiful and incredible life. The same way we people should love God, just because He gave us everything we have. Such love is the purest thing on earth. That's why I agree with this quote: a healthy person would never hurt his/her mother. And that's why we also shouldn't hurt God, because He loves us as His children.

So let's love God and each other, not displease. And live our lives with joy and try hard to be less sinful.

This is a very moving and joyful quote. The words of Archbishop Averky make us believe that humans have a chance to receive God's forgiveness and that there is an example of earthly love we can look up to. It is pure, genuine and not demanding love.

However, there is also danger in this relationship between man and God. Personally, I cannot say that I only have such feelings for God in practice. Often, I feel fear and a sense of hopelessness due to my sinfulness, but at the same time I always understand that there is someone who listens, helps and I find peace in God's temple. This relationship is similar to the relationship between a child and their parents. I hope these feelings will always prevail over our weaknesses.

The first thing I want to say is that we are all imperfect and we sometimes make mistakes. I believe that anyone who truly loves someone should apologize if they hurt them. This shows humility and a true desire to comfort the person you love. Therefore, I generally agree with the quote that if you love someone, you must care for them.

This is also true of our Father. He loves us unconditionally and is the best listener. He takes care of us and helps us overcome our imperfections. As His children, we must express our love for Him in return. We must take care of Him because we love Him, and as the quote: if you love someone, you do your best to make them happy. So, we should strive to please God as best we can.

I agree with this quote. But not all Christians can truly love the Lord. I’ve often heard that a person goes through three stages: a slave, a hireling and a son. The first one fulfills God’s will for fear of punishment, the second does it for the reward and the third - for love.

I can confirm this from my own experience. I used to pray and keep the commandments because of fear. Now I do it mostly to get peace in my soul and the feeling of safety. Hopefully, someday I’ll do good things only for love to God.
