The Lord desires the salvation of each and every person. But not everyone wants to be saved. In word they all desire it, but in deed they reject it. How do they reject it? Not through sin, because there were many great sinners, like the thief, Saint Mary of Egypt and others. They repented of their sins and the Lord forgave them, and thus they achieved salvation. The ones who perish are the ones who sin but do not repent and only justify their transgressions.

The Lord’s mercifulness is above our understanding. No matter how corrupt we are, He is ready to forgive us if only we repent, if only we want to be forgiven.

After reading the quote of Abbot Nikon Vorobiev I remembered these words of Jesus Christ: “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men” (Mth. 12:31). The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a stubborn and conscious rejection of the saving grace of God. Some theologians say these words refer to people who consciously refuse to be with God and don’t want to see the error of their ways and to repent. I suppose it’s because the Lord can’t save us against our will. I heard a supposition that some people will go to hell just because they will refuse to be with our Saviour, they won’t be able to be with the Lord due to their sinfulness and unwillingness to repent, they won’t be able to bear the Light. Clive Staples Lewis wrote that the doors of hell are closed from inside. To conclude, I’m on the same page with Abbot Nikon Vorobiev here as I also believe that the Lord is merciful and forgives us no matter how disastrous our iniquity may seem. However, God can’t save us if we deliberately reject Him and His saving gifts.

The Lord desires the salvation of each and every person. But not everyone wants to be saved. In words they all desire it, but in deed they reject. How do they reject it ? Not  through the sin, because there were many sinners like the thief, Saint Mary of Egypt and others. They repented of their sins and God forgave them, and thus they achieved salvation. The one's who perish are the ones who sin, but do not repent and only justify their transgressions. This is the the statement of abbot Nikon Vorobiev. I agree with it and I'll try to explain why.

There are many people who go to church and think that they just need to do the ritual. The sacrament of confession is not an exception. People usually think I just will name my sins and that's it.  They don't think about the meaning of the ritual. As a result they do not repent, because for repentance you need to change yourself and  sin no more. Then, we will  achieve salvation. We can' t achieve salvation without changing ourself. Without changing our faith turns out to be a kind of game. That's true not only about  confession, but about many other sacraments too.

However, in conclusion I have to say that despite the fact that many of us confess this way, we still should hope for the mercy and help of the Lord and we all will be saved.

I agree with Abbot Nikon Vorobiev. True salvation requires both repentance and the humility to accept our flaws. God’s desire for everyone’s salvation is evident, but it’s not enough to simply wish for it—we must actively seek forgiveness. Great sinners have attained salvation not by avoiding sin entirely but by recognizing their wrongs, repenting, and transforming their lives. This is what Mary of Egypt did, for example. Those who deny their need for repentance are the ones who risk spiritual loss, as they cling to their errors instead of releasing them. This teaching reminds us that salvation is not about perfection but about sincere repentance and change.

I fully share the viewpoint of the author of this quote. People often deny salvation, especially in today's world. Many people who believe in God deny prayer and church because of their resentment towards the people around them. Resentment against the church is a very common excuse for people. They believe that God exists, but they are unwilling to invest in church life, in prayer and serving others.

Another well-known excuse is the belief that they will never achieve the spiritual life that will enable them to enter the Kingdom of God, so there is no point in even trying. It is common for people to avoid responsibility, to overshadow their responsibility to others and, above all, to God. People often choose earthly problems instead of concentrating on their spiritual life and prayer, which should be the first priority for believers.

I think that Abbot Nikon wanted to emphasize the importance of free will, which every person has. If you want to live in a sin - do, but be aware of hell and other consequences. For me, it has always been a terrible thought that the person whom I love would prefer to live in a sin without repentance. It is so hard to accept, but I came to the understanding that if you love someone, you accept their choices, but you always choose God, not people.

To conclude, I really do believe that love and praying can help anyone to repent and come to God.

I have always been thinking about the subject mentioned in the quote. It is a difficult matter, but it resonates deeply with me. To be saved, one must repent, and without true repentance, there is no way to rejoice with Christ. If someone thinks that their desire to be with Christ is enough, they need to think more carefully about their situation.

I often think of a video where a man recalls his experience of clinical death. He saw a ladder of sins that was difficult to climb, and he said that only prayer and a true desire to repent helped him climb it. Every time I go to confession, I imagine destroying one step of that ladder in my mind.

Abbot Nikon Vorobyov's quote is clear and logical, and it is difficult to disagree with. We all enter this world with original sin and continue to commit sin throughout our lives, which is a fact we cannot deny.

As a Christian, I often face the question of how to repent of these sins. Repentance is an essential aspect of the Christian faith and involves recognizing our weaknesses and working to overcome them. It also concerns being aware of temptation and avoiding it.

Since the age of 7, we have confessed our sins to God, but how many times have we repeated the same sins and say them again during another confession? I can honestly say that this case has happened more than once to me. This struggle against sin is challenging, and requires constant effort to reach the Kingdom of Heaven.

I agree with this quote. St. Isaac the Syrian wrote that “there is no unforgivable sin except of the unrepented sin”. And St. Symeon the New Theologian says that “neither the magnitude of the offences nor the multitude of the sins surpasseth the abundant long-suffering of my God and His exceeding love for mankind” (The Order of Preparation for Holy Communion, prayer 6). The lives of many saints (Prince Vladimir, for example) confirm this.

Repentance can purge every transgression but no one is able to repent after suicide. That’s why this sin is considered to be the gravest.

I go along with Abbot Nikon Vorobiev. Unfortunately, not everyone wants to be saved. People are to blame for their lack of repentance. They consciously commit sins and intentionally don't repent because they are too full of themselves to acknowledge their unrighteousness and set foot on the righteous path. They might be probably aware that God is waiting for their repentance but that's their choice to justify their transgressions. Nothing could be done with it. God created us with free will. Only when they themselves want to be saved, they will be able to be saved.
