I believe that sounds can affect humans in different ways. When you are tired, you can listen to something relaxing: music or sounds of rain. And when you are concentrated and minding your own business some noises may distract or intimidate you, for example, thuds when all of a sudden a heavy object falls onto a carpeted floor, clatter, when something metal falls onto a concrete floor. It can be very terrifying, indeed. I personally don't like these sounds: rumbles, crashes, bangs, because they can frighten me to death.
I prefer quiet and gentle sounds, they make me feel calm and comfortable. When I want to study at home, I listen to music. When I am nervous, I prefer to listen to the sounds of waves and dream that I am at sea.
I think that some sounds are always terrifying, and some are always nice to hear. But there are also some sounds, such as dog barking, which can be either cute, or terrible. And that depends on the listener and his mood, and on the dog and its barking.

1. I have two friends, one of them, Andy, is a fan of different TYPES OF LIGHTS. 2. And he has a torch, and he absolutely loves its BEAM of light. 3. He made me a gift, it was a diamond ring and it SPARKLES very beautifully and it matches with my golden chain, which GLITTERS. 4. I decided to make him a present too, so I bought a candle, so he could enjoy watching it FLICKER in the breeze. 5. Andy was happy, that day the sun SHONE and gave out RAYS of light, and at night stars TWINKLED. 6. My second friend called Teddy loves sounds: RINGS, RUMBLES, RUSTLES, THUDS, HISSES, CLATTERS and BANGS. 6. I wonder how he can listen to the CRASH sound and even enjoy it. 7. Teddy and Andy always wear DARK and GLOOMY clothes, and so do I, probably that's why we are friends.
