| The interesting thing is that evil is quite strong. Obviously, God is above evil, but still, the devil has more power than people. Everyone once felt that he/she couldn't resist the displays of evil. For example, we can't control some thoughts in our head, therefore, we suffer from them, and the only thing that helps is praying to God. So, thoughts can sometimes ruin our lives in a literal way, that's why we should pray and fast, so one day we will be able to endure any temptation.
It must be remembered that without love of God we are weak and don't have enough strength for resistance, and I suggest that it's the key point of this quote.

| Our whole life is a struggle with our nature, with sins, to which our whole being is subjected. But we must recognise that we cannot fight the passions ourselves, without prayer and God's help our salvation is impossible. God's grace, which is given to us through participation in the sacraments and through deep prayer, saves us and helps us to overcome earthly human weaknesses.
The Lord in his deep love for people frees us from the chains of passions and weaknesses, gives us comfort and faith in the cure of sin. Thus, I fully share the author’s point of view, for without God we are nothing.

| At every service during the sermon, the priest emphasizes the importance of relying on God more than on ourselves or other people. He reminds us that no one else can help us but God. If we want to overcome evil, we need to pray to God for strength and guidance. As my friend mentioned above, evil can be overwhelming, but we can still fight it if we have faith in God. Even if we had a million-strong army, it would not be enough without God's help. Therefore, I fully agree with the idea that our only hope in this battle is God's assistance.

| These words sound quite scary and they talk about terrible human vices. But, on the contrary, for some reason, I felt warmth from these words. It emphasizes not only the figure of the Lord as one who punishes, but also the one who guides and helps us on our earthly journey. God is the Father and we can come to Him in our imperfection over and over again. We can ask Him for forgiveness and mercy.
I thank God every day for being able to experience this in my life. Sometimes my path went wrong, but God brought me back on the path of truth. He has given me so much, and I am grateful for it. The Lord gave me a family and a home, health and a body, He gave me faith and wonderful teachers - this is an endless list of His mercy. This quote fills my heart with gratitude and joy.

| None of us could endure the plots of the enemy, or allay the fiery turmoil of our nature, if God's grace did not protect our human weakness. These are the words said by Abba Apollos. I go along with this issue and I'll try to explain why.
Of course, we should fight with the enemy (here enemy is the devil) We can find the proof in the Bible: "Be subject therefore unto God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James, 4:7)
Consequently, we should remember that the devil has a power. He is very powerful. He can easily turn people into nothing. There are enough examples when people see the ghosts (devil's powers) and after that they commit suicide. So, a human can't defeat the devil alone. He can't even come over the temptations without God, that's why we have many prayers dedicated to help to overcome the temptations and sins. So, I think God should fight with devil through people. We can find the proof to this statement in the Bible: "Put on the whole armour that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11).
In conclusion, I have to say that I hope we will all become a weapon of the Lord against the wiles of the devil through fasting and praying as Christ said.

| Man is inherently capable of both great and monstrous deeds. Free will combined with human ingenuity can lead to both the beautiful and the brilliant, as well as the terrifying. Humanity has created a support system for the weak and sick, it treats and integrates people with a wide variety of diseases and disabilities into society. But the same humanity invented fascism, Nazism, gas chambers, slander and blood libel, misogyny and child abuse. The only thing that keeps a person from falling into the abyss of cruelty and evil is conscience. And conscience is the voice of God in us. It turns out that only the presence of God can keep us from monstrous crimes.
So, I agree with Abba Apollos. Seems like if it wasn't for the Lord's grace, mankind would be doomed.

| I can't agree more with Abba Apollos. I am sure that man himself is not capable of enduring the plots of the enemy. We are too weak, our nature is sinful. And only being covered by God's Grace can we go further. It was not for nothing that the Apostle Paul said: "For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing" (Romans 7:19).
