Think about holidays you have had. How would you describe them? Then think about your perfect holiday. What words from this unit can you use to describe it?

What places you would definitely like to visit? What places you are unwilling to visit for this or that reason?

Describe the most convenient / comfortable / luxurious / exotic / memorable accommodation you have had while travelling.

I can't say the trip I want to talk about was the nicest, but it was certainly one of the most memorable - because it was my first. It was a ferry ride to Solovki with my grandma. I don't remember exactly how long it lasted, but it was over a week. I was five years old, and what excited me most was the nature. I'd never seen such vast landscapes before, and they truly impressed me. We stayed in a double cabin together, though I don't have many fun photos from that time because grandma was very strict. Still, here are a few I kept. I remember we visited other cities too, but what stands out most is Myshkin and how frightened I was of the actors dressed as mice. During the ferry ride, I kept trying to reach the top deck, but grandma wouldn't let me.
As for Solovki, the landscapes amazed me once more. The island is surrounded by water, and during one excursion, the guide showed us a spot with many small, dark berries that tasted wonderful. Those berries became my favorite part of the trip (I wasn't particularly interested in learning about the monastery). This journey sparked my love for travel and nature, and since then, my biggest dream has been to explore the world. While I currently prefer camping and sleeping in a tent, I'm open to other kinds of vacations too.

Describe the most memorable accommodation you have had while travelling.

The most impressive experience of accommodation during travelling happened to me in 2019, when my parents and I travelled by car to different cities in France. The whole trip turned out to be a life-changing experience for me.

We were able to visit many small towns in France from the south, to the north. We always lived in very unusual places. In Arles, Van Gogh's city, we lived in a hotel that used to be a Catholic chapel. It had a very unusual design by young modern artists. However, the most impressive thing about Arles for me was the tour about Van Gogh, during which we walked around the places where the great artist had been, looking at the city through his eyes.

On the same trip we visited the Loire Valley, where we stayed in a small but authentic chateau converted into a hotel by the owners. We also travelled around the Loire valley, looking at different castles, even abandoned ones.

Think about your perfect holiday.

The perfect trip for me is a balance between relaxation and learning something new. For me, travelling without getting to know the culture of a country is impossible. But a journey with endless trips to museums is not going to bring anyone the greatest pleasure either. You have to find a balance in everything.

It seems to me that on every trip you should try to live at least a day as an ordinary resident of the city/country, take public transport, eat in a family restaurant and just walk along the quiet streets of the suburbs.

I really like travelling by scheduled flights. I'm always in favour of planning a trip myself, rather than going on a pre-made tour, with a large group of people. For me, the perfect trip is one without transfers and stopovers along the way, which unfortunately in today's realities is almost impossible.

After months of planning, we finally booked a scheduled flight to Rome, but since it was non-refundable, we had to be sure about the dates. To save money, we skipped first class and opted for economy class and a charter flight on the way back. Our trip included a 24-hour stopover in the South of France, where we considered camping near the beach to economise. Next summer, though, we’d rather go on a cruise.

I can describe my trip as an exotic and memorable experience. I was 17 years old when my family and I went on a grand adventure to Europe. At the time, I didn't realize that this would be the last time we would visit Europe, as COVID would strike the following year and prevent me from traveling to Europe again.

My sister and I, she was about 8-9 years old at the time, flew to Norway, where our parents were waiting for us. Upon arrival, the police greeted us, took us to a room, and questioned us for a while, then called our parents. However, everything ended well, and we were eventually released. After that, two whole weeks of unforgettable experiences awaited us. We moved around, living in a mobile house, cooking over a campfire, and sleeping in specially designated camps for cars. The whole journey was truly unforgettable. The natural beauty of Norway was simply breathtaking. Afterwards, my family and I drove to Germany, stopping in Sweden and Belgium on the way. After enjoying and resting physically, we also enjoyed museums and historical sites.

1) CRUISES are not her HOLIDAY OF A LIFETIME and that’s why she chose a PACKAGE HOLIDAY to the Maldives. 2) She had tickets in ECONOMY CLASS and her ROUTE was through Germany. 3) She made a STOPOVER there and ordered a TRANSFER. 4) When she saw the beauty of Germany she CANCELLED her ALL-INCLUSIVE hotel on the island and stopped in a cheap GUEST HOUSE near Berlin.

Once I went camping with my friend to Old Kashira. It was very exciting and adventurous, but also a very tough two-day hike. It happened in November. We carried a lot of weight in our backpacks, and after that trip my leg was hurting so much. On that trip we went from one train station to another through the forests, fields, and mud. My friend is a pro hiker, while I am absolutely not. We put a tent somewhere in the middle of the forest and made a fire. It was freezing; we were alone without any connection to the world. On that trip I loved how close we became with nature and each other. I went on one-day trips a lot, but never have I ever slept under the stars before this two-day trip.

To conclude, I am glad that we managed to complete that trip, and now it is one of my best memories. I really liked our travel, but nevertheless, I would prefer to have an all-inclusive holiday in a warm and clean hotel next time, as my perfect holiday is in that place where I can have a good rest.

1. Eve adores travelling, last year she booked a PACKAGE HOLIDAY, which includes an ALL-INCLUSIVE hotel and transfers. 2. So she just booked a SCHEDULED FLIGHT and flew to Indonesia, where a SHUTTLE BUS drove her to the hotel. 3. There Eve WENT ON A CRUISE to EXOTIC islands, where she GOT AWAY FROM IT ALL. 4. It was the HOLIDAY OF A LIFETIME.
